1: Notes on this revision I am sending the latest edition of the "Violists in Orchestras" list. This list contains 5022± entries from an as yet uncounted number of orchestras (maybe 750±). This is in an Excel format which should be usable on and platforms which support Excel. It should also be capable of providing input to databases which are capable of handling ASCII files, since a conversion of the Excel file to other formats should present no major problems. I have organized the data in an order which should be logical in the Spreadsheet format, but which, of course, can be modified to fit the user's choices. 2. While I am expanding those lists, I am also collecting data for additional categories of violists: teachers, members of small chamber ensembles such as quartets and trios, soloists, etc. Eventually, I would hope to have a relational database structured in a manner in which violists can have one listing which will cover the full range of their viola-related activities. - - - -
