Added to Viola Events page: Tarisio Matching Grant Program: awards up to $10,000 (£6,000) of matching funds to one winning applicant for each Tarisio auction of fine instruments and bows. Open to string players aged under 30 who are currently enrolled in or graduates of a music performance degree program. Four auctions per year. The application deadline for the next auction is 26 March.

November 2011:

Added to Viola Events page: Washington International Competition will take place in Washington DC from June 8-10, 2012. Violists between the ages of 18 and 28, who are ready to take the next step towards establishing a professional career but are not yet under management, are encouraged to apply. First prize: $8000. Finalists will have the opportunity to play at Kennedy Center’s Terrace Theater.
